Question

Well, basically I'm planning on taking a semster (either next spring or fall) to backpack in europe for about three months. I am absolutely ecstatic about this trip (been dreaming about it for years.) Right now i'm leaning towards going in the fall, i think mainly because its sooner than spring and im sick of indiana, but also because i can save all summer for it without worrying about college expenses. But it seems like it might be better to travel in the spring weather wise and I would have the summer incase I wanted to extend my trip... I'm not sure though. Any thoughts?

All depends on the destination, your options are both the entrance and the exit of high season so it wont be to crowded in most places. Where are ya planning on going in Europe?

Yeah, TUI's right. Europe's climate varies quite a bit from freaking cold to hot to what you're used to Indiana (Hey Rob, we got another neighbor Midwesterner here on the boards -- I'm from Columbus, OH, by the way...).

My favorite travel time is fall, but I'd can think of no reason to put off a trip from Spring to Fall if you're itching to go. Definite similarities between the two "shoulder seasons."

Let us know where you want to go, and we'll fire more advice than you probably wanted at you...

Hey- thanks for the response guys. Basically, I want to start out in london and end up in italy (at least thats my vision as of now) and see as much of western europe as I can in 3-4 months. I don't really have a set time schedule yet, and I dont really know if i want to set one, (I want to be able to take off somewhere else if I really dont like a place and hang around for longer if im lovin it.) I know I want to spend a good amount of time the UK, Spain, Italy, and France but I also really want to go to the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria.... pretty much I want to go everywhere but I dont want to rush through everything just to get to the next place. I want it to be about quality not quantity cause I know ill be traveling for the rest of my life. But yeah, I would really appreciate any advice or must sees you guys have, from reading your other posts and stuff it seems like you guys really know what you're talking about (unlike most of the people I know.) Thanks- Sean
