So, apparently Bellelass was not the only one to lose hers... according to the news Kimi Raikkonen, a Finnish pilot who runs in the Formula 1 had too much to drink at the Grand Prix in Hungary and lost his briefcase with his passport, other documents and 7500 dollars...
Darn those tequila shots must have been good!!

Hopefully this was AFTER he raced.
I'm surprised an F1 driver would even notice a mere 7.5k missing...

Actually he had to get his passport reissued ASAP as he has to go to Turkey where Formula 1 is racing next weekend.

There aren't many sports where the athletes are allowed to get plastered after a race and still be allowed to compete the next weekend.

Why would they not be allowed to compete due to drinking a week before?

75K would be crazy, but she said it was only $7,500 which is still a lot of change to be carrying around.

I can think about just about every major league sport in the states...not all are "races" per se, but the participants certainly get smashed and then "compete" the next week...that is, if they aren't facing assault or rape charges.

What kind of yacht do you think you'd be able to buy for $75k?

well I'm a bit confused here from what I've read in other threads. I'll be going to europe for the first time soon and it seems the predominant piece of advice I've seen is you carry all your important docs with you in a money belt all the time. some folks said that even when they got up to go to the bathroom they would take it. I was planning on doing that (in the money belt thing) with a wallet in my front pocket with spending cash and maybe a debit card. Whaddayou folks think?

yeah, that seems to make more sense to me. I thought folks were saying carry your passport with you because they didn't trust the lockers at the hostel. But every place I'm going to supplies lockers and I've the master locks, so why not keep your hard copies there?? Hey folks, another thing: I've heard talk about locking your backpack to your bed. Does this make sense to anyone? Maybe I just don't have the right kind of backpack that you can lock up to a hostel bed...

It seems like every week there is an article in the paper about an AFL footballer (you may need to look that up) or cricketer that has been reprimanded for getting drunk in a night club somewhere.
I just figured these highly tuned competitors with millions of dollars on the line over millisecond decisions would always have to be focused and training etc.
I guess it must be different with racing drivers though
