Hi again,
So I'm flying into Shannon on Saturday morning of NYE's weekend. I'm gonna take the bus to Galway and spend about a week in the area. I've been there before, but not at this time of the year. Anyone know where the craic is at?? My main concerns are my safety and staying in city center, close enough to my room so that I can get home without relying on a cab (lodging hasn't been decided yet, but city center - Quay St, Eyre Sq, etc - is a safe bet).

As a Galway enthusiast, the centre is the place to be. Especially on NYE with a stomach full of Guiness and hot Jameson's (sounds nasty, actually pretty damn yummy). You'll be safe and the Irish are harmless.
Have SOOOOOOOOOOO much fun and I am very jealous!

Galway will be wedged with people that night I'd say getting into pubs and clubs will be difficult. They should be doing something in Eyre square (revamp just finished this year) so buying a few cans or a bottle of whiskey and just wandering around the middle of town might be an option.
It'll be an all day drinkin' seasion.

I'm living and working in Cork, planning to move on to Galway before my year is up. Whereabouts are you?

I've been thinking about going to Galway for new years also, well, either there or Edinburgh, still trying to decide. I've never been to Ireland before or even Europe for that matter, but what better place to go and drink in the new year than Ireland.

It all depends on what you're looking for in a NYE celebration. Of course, I vote for Galway.
