hey, i'm gonna be spending a couple months this summer working in London and am still trying to figure out what all my options are for lodging.

does anybody have any experience living in university residences over the summer ? would this be cheaper then renting a room in a flat (around 90pounds/week) ?

thanks

sean

I your up for it, some youth hostels will rent long term during the summer, if you have trouble finding a place, you could try that.

Yeah most hostels have a long termer rate. I stayed at the Generator long term for 70 pound a week (goes up to 80 a week in the summer, I think). Nothing beats doing that for ease and location, as most hostels are located fairly central. There are some pseudo flats that cater to longer term residents from abroad. I lived in one of these in Queens Park for a couple months. Usually a shared kitchen and then shared rooms for the residents. I would recommend just staying at a hostel and see how you like it, and then check the back of the TNT magazine for flat advertisments if you tire of hostel life. It was fun, but two months at the Generator and I was ready to leave.

Ditto on checking out TNT. And The Gumtree. The gumtree has everything known to man on it. I lived and worked in a hostel, paid about twenty pounds a week for my berth. But it kind of sucks to live where you work.
