ok no question is a dumb question.

see this , i am travelling to madrid then to malaga , valencia and one more city for a week in spain then offf to france , paris for a day or two and then to switzerland , bern and zurich for three days .
tell me how many days of eurail flexi pass i require ?
i know it has been explained many times on this site . i ve understood everything except one thing. the day system or the 24 hour system.
so, every time i travel from one city to the other. one day is exhausted no matter if its fours away to malaga or to 12 hours journey from madrid to paris.in that case i d require a 8 day pass ??

i know its a little irritating but guys if i am daring to ask, please be kind enough to answer.

okay here it is for you

Madrid

DAY 1

Malaga

DAY 2

Valencia

DAY 3

"one more city"

DAY 4

Paris

DAY 5

Bern

DAY 6

Zurich

Here are the rules
IF you travel within the zone you payed for you may travel as many times as you want between the hours of 0:00 - 24:00 if you travel after 19:00(7:00pm) that will count for the next day.

Examples (all times are fictional)
travel from Madrid at 5:00 in the morning change trains in paris and then arrive in Berlin before midnight. COST = 1 day

Travel from Pisa, IT to Florence, IT COST = 1 day

Travel from Madrid at 20:00(8:00pm) and arrive in Barcelona at 1:00 then sleep in a hostel till 14:00(2:00 pm) and take a train to rome COST = 1 day

travel from berlin at 14:00(2:00pm) to munich then Munich @ 22:00(10:00pm) to Budapest Cost = 2 days

BUT Keep in mind that if you do get on a train after 19:00 then you MUST mark your ticket for the following day.... if you fail to do this it will NOT be good the next day.

I think that about covers it if you have anymore questions let us know.

No the 19:00 rule is not only for overnight trains. If you get on a a train @ 20:00 19/04/2006 AND it is your first train ride of the day mark it for 20/04/2006

I almost one hunderad percent positive on this but I am verifying it right now

I just sent and email to Rail Europe so I will post my findings.

Also remember to not fill in your eurail pass until you see the guy coming down the aisle checking tickets. They usually check new passengers after each stop, but sometimes they dont. Especially in Spain.
