I just read this week of some hostel closings across the UK in the North American Weekly Edition of the Telegraph dated Feb 8th-Feb 14th . I'm copying the article here for everytone to read but if you guys have any more info, let me know.
YOUTH HOSTELS TO BE REVITALISED Nearly one in seven youth hostels in England and Wales will close in the next three years to fund a project to "revitalise" the network. The Youth Hostels Association said it would sell 32 of its least popular properties and cut around 70 jobs. The charity plans to spend £18 million raised from the sales to upgrade facilities on its 200 remaining venues. Has anyone else heard anything (on either sides of the pond) about this? -Jeff |
As far as I know, the YHA/HI hostels in Europe aren't so great, so I don't think it'll affect me since I don't stay in them.
(On the other hand, YHA hostels in Oz are awesome...) |
