Hi all, im looking for some advice on travelling around Europe. I plan to travel wih my fiance around Europe for around 12 months in a camper van. Im just wondering if there is anyone who traveled for around the same length of time and would be willing to share their travel route with us. We plan to visit as many countries as possible, staying in a few for a number of weeks at a time.

Also does anyone have any advice on getting jobs and what type of jobs are usually available?

We would be gratfull for any help given.

Cheers

Welcome Sean, to Tpunk !

I haven't quite been to Europe yet but I've been planning and absorbing knowledge for a while. Here is what I gather.

To figure out where you should go you and your fiance should asks yourselves some questions. Do we like art? Do we like to party/go out to nightclubs? Do we like history? Do we like beaches? Do we like outdoorsy activities (ie mountain climbing)? and other similar questions. If you guys say "We love the beach but aren't too in to art and history" Go easy on the museums and spend more of your time at the beach."

Also I recommend going to your public library and checking out videos and DVD on European travel. Many programs such as Rick Steves' Europe and Lonely Planet guides are not only informative in giving you ideas on what to see/do, but are entertaining as well.

Hope I was helpful. I'm sure more seasoned travellers can offer some more advice.

And remember that there's a nasty little thing called the Schengen Agreement. Legally you can only be in the EU for 3 months at a time and must *leave* for three months when that is up... You can be in the UK for 6 months at a time, but it'll be a constant jockeying unless you're super-sneaky. Good luck!

I think you're okay as UK residents - check the Foreign Office's travel advisories, that'll tell you for sure. If you can use the EU Only lines in airports, you should be fine!
