Hey there.

Just stumbled upon the Travelpunk site and have found it super helpful. Anyway, I'm planning a trip (two people) for a month in Europe June through July. I have a bunch of questions but I will start with the loosely decided upon route.. I'd really appreciate those of you who could answer them for me!

We're buying the Eurail flexipass to get around, is this the best method?

We would like to go to Ireland but we don't know what the most cost effective way to get in and out of the country would be.. Anyway, that is another story in itself.

3-5 Days We plan on taking a backpacking tour in Edinburough through Skye and then visiting relatives I just realized I had somewhere in Scotland.

3 Days London

1-2 Days Amsterdam

3 Days somewhere in Germany.. reccomendations?

3-4 Days Paris/Versailles

3-4 Days Barcelona

3-4 Days in Rome, possibly finish in Venice (Is this a good idea?)

That puts me at 25 days and gives us 5-6 days to dick around wherever we feel like.

Anyway, here come the questions.

1. What is the most cost effective way to get from Edinborough to London and from London to Amsterdam?

2. Where should we go in Germany?

3. As far as hostels go, is online booking necessary? did you prefer the group style hostels or the individual rooms? Any ones in particular that you'd reccomend in the cities I've mentioned?

4. Does our route make sense?

5. Should we fly in/out of the same city or is it really necessary?

Anyhow, thanks for the help. I'll check back tomorrow and see what information I can learn.
