hi all, im still pretty new here but all the info you guys give is grrreat.

anyways, ive read a bunch of posts about spending the night at gatwick before an early am flight, im wondering if anyone has done this at stansted in london?

i have a 7:50 flight, and would love to save the hostel money for a couple pints in belfast.

let me know how crazy the idea is

It may not be necessary to actually spend the night. Just party til the wee hours and catch whatever coach/train will get you there within an hour or hour and a half of your flight.

I've stayed overnight at Frankfurt International. I planned to stay awake all night before my 7:30 am flight, then sleep the 8 hours back home, waking up at 10:30 local time, but that didn't work. Anyway, I saw lots of people sleeping at the airport and also enough airport staff to notice if there were any security problems (some of them were riding bikes around the almost-empty check-in area), but I ended up meeting a couple of guys doing the exact same thing as me and taking the same flight, so we just hung out all night talking, goofing off, browsing at the duty-free shop and generally wasting time.
