That's a tough one ! There is enought to see in Europe to keep busy for a year !... I think we would need you to be a bit more specific on your ideas of a good time (outdoors, arts, architecture, siteseeing, party, etc.), and maybe a rough idea of your budget.

And do you already know where you'll be landing/departing ?

Let's just say that a month is fast spent, so I'll start the advice with : visit two or three countries around Italy, including it.

Well, I really want to hit Ireland, and the Czech Republic(heritage), Spain, and Italy. We will be there for a month, maybe more. Flying into Dublin, want to depart from Rome, the Fiumichino airport. I want to party hearty but also see the outdoors and the architechture.

Hmmm, Mike, from what I read, I believe you need more than a month. Have you looked at a map of Europe ? Your itineray is a the moment not realistic yet. And the transport between countries, you'll soon find out, is so time consuming, that I'm afraid you won't be able to cover all this distance and number of countries in four weeks. Believe me.

I'm looking at a map right now... Ireland-(fly to) Amsterdam-Berlin -(night train to) Czech-Vienna-(night train to) Italy. Greece and Spain ??? For another trip !

That's just one combination you could do.

Well, I might try to extend the time we stay over there to two months if i can get my friend to stay in hostels. We will save a crap load of cash if we stay in hostels. I'd love to go in June and come back in August. Have any Ideas, what we should see in those countries?

I think I saw in a previous forum that you're flying into and out of Dublin. Definitely check into the low cost carriers like Ryanair that fly to various European destinations. That's your best bet for taking in the countries you want to visit in your time frame. Maybe check a oneway on Ryanair to Prague, then find another cheapie one way from Prague to Rome.

The problem is, to get the cheapiest fares, you'll have to book before you go...and soon, I'd say. So, sit down with your friend and a couple guidebooks and map out how much time in each country. So, say you land June 1 in Ireland. Talk to your friend and say, well, we'd like to spend 9 days there. Reserve your Ryanair flight to Prague for June 10th. Then, if you decide 5 days in Czech Rep, make your Prague to Rome for the 15th, or whatever. Sure, it will give you deadlines -- which may suck if you're loving a place -- but hey, that's life. Not everyone can go on an open-ended trip for as long as they like. Most people who travel know when they're going home, so there's always some deadlines.

That said, here are some recommendations:
Ireland: Cliffs of Moher, Dingle Peninsula, Glendalough
Czech Rep: Prague, Cesky Krumlov (haven't been there, but Tpunkers rave about it)
Italy: Venice, Rome, Amalfi Coastline, Pompeii/Herculanaem, Cinque Terre, Florence
Spain: Grenada, Barcelona, Segovia, Toledo, Madrid

Feel free to ask more questions...

What the!?! You're not staying in hostels??? But that's half the fun of travelling....especially in Europe. In fact, i doubt i would travel if i couldn't stay in hostels.

As for recommendations on where to go, i can't really top what WWM said, that's some solid advice.

Just one thing, you said that you want to do Amsterdam as a day trip. Where would you be doing this day trip from?? Because Amsterdam is a long way from most places. Also, you have to stay in Amsterdam for at least one night and wander the red light district and peruse the coffee shops....A-Dam is the best at night.

Have fun Bro
