Hi all,

Looking for a recommendation for a hostel in Berlin. Two chicks travelling together, prefer twin room in hostel to a dorm, but single-sex small dorm ok.
Don't want to spend more than 25E a night if possible...

Can anyone advise?

Also location-wise, where is it best to stay in Berlin? East, west, central etc? Any comments are most welcome as I have NO fricking idea. We are only there for 3 nights so want to make the most of it.

Arriving at Schoenfeld airport...

Thanks!!

PS We want a bit of sightseeing, bit of culture, bit of partying, bit of shopping....

HI i went to Berlin in June, i absolutely love this city and the shopping is fantastic just head down to the ka'dam. They have all the great high street shops such as zara, mango etc as well as the designers. A great book that is relative;y cheap which i found invaluable is the Belitz poket guide book of Berlin £5. The hostel i stayed in was the Meininger, which is very centrally located just a 5 min walk away from checkpoint charlie. However if you are looking for a party hostel i hear that the generator is excellent. These hostels can all be booked on travelpunk and i have found that the rates are somewhat cheaper than just going to the hostel and booking. Arriving at Schonefield is pretty easy. Dont forget to do the New Berlin walking tour, they give you a 6 hour tour for free, they also do a barcrawl for about 10 euros, which i thouroughly recommend!

Have fun in Berlin

I stayed a weekend in Berlin and loved it as well. We weren't in a hostel, but an apartment rented by the week. It was in the eastern part of the City, not far from the TV tower. The difference between the East and the West was (in 2002) still extremely visible. So I'm glad we chose the East (close to the center), because the other side is too much westernized to my taste. But whatever you decide, it won't make such a difference since it is only for a few days. Public transport is great in Berlin, can take you everywhere, at just about any time of the day/night.
