hey folks... i am in viana do castelo, portugal, right now and i want to go to salamanca, spaain, tommorrow... and i have no clue how to do it. the only way to get in spain from here is to go to vigo... then i am not sure how to go. i would check online how to do it, but it is way to beautiful of a day to be inside...

if anyone has a clue on how i would go about getting to where i want to go, let me know... or if anyone has extra time at work and could do some looking online, thanks in advance...

off to the beach,
ed

If you do a search in google for "interactive train map spain" you'll get a really good map that shows all the train routes of Europe. Because alot of the trains between Portugal and Spain seem to stop a few miles from the border and turn back. I got stuck in a smallish town on the border with no trains and buses I didn't reliese I needed to get a ferry across. The town was preaty cool though..

Some info on their rail system- here.

Not sure if you read portugese, but here's some info on their bus system.

Looks like if you make your way down to Pampilhosa, you can take a train or bus directly east to Salamanca.

Have fun, bro!

If you can't read portuguese, you can go here It might not make much sense, but its better than looking at a whole page completly in a language you don't know! lol. If the link doesn't work, just go to Google, type in the link travelpunk gave and it'll come up at google. Then just click "Translate this Page" and it'll be in English. Like I said, it doesn't make much sense, but if you know what you're looking for it'll be easier.

salamanca is so nice - one of my favorites in Spain - make sure to check out the historical sites there (especially the old library). Also, go to Avila! Its so beautiful!
