Hey Bro,
You may have already checked this link for a place to crash, here are some for Cinque Terre
And a couple more...
Cinque Terra Hostel
As for food my friend, you sir are in the land of food and drink!!! Wine flows like water in Tuscany, and plates of food fall on the floor because they are so over loaded with the freash smell of nana's cooking!!! I have been in that area my friend, but I don't thiink anyone could recommend any one resturant!!! Good Luck, and be prepared to gain a couple of pounds!!!
I hope your trip is going well Dmac, and PLEASE tell me about all the food!!!!
( and the Italian chicks!!)

Haven't been there sorry, bro! From what I hear, there are also a lot of people rent their rooms from their houses. Haven't hear of any horror stories or anything...rather, on the contrary! I think if you walk into a local bar and chat with the bartender, they usually can point you in the right direction(for housing, great food, night life, etc...).
Have a great time and thanks a bunch always checking in with us! You the "d-mac daddy! "

Hey, this is just a shameless plug to say how much I loved the Cinque Terre. I booked a night in Riomaggiore from Hostelworld, and it worked out really well. I stayed in an apartment with 3 girls from America. Two attend Duke, and one Harvard. And (the most important part) they were beautiful.
The walk itself was incredible, and I was actually able to stop and talk to some people tending vines. (Here's where I shamelessly self-promote, and show 2 pics.)
I can not say enough good things about this spot, and I wish that I'd had more than a day to spend there (my next stop was Rome, and I was hella-excited to get there).
Go to the Cinque Terre if you're ever close, it's so worth it.
Oh, and it's probably best to start at Riomaggiore, going the other way tends to be a bit harder.
