Hey, since I am a virgin backpacker, and my current plans keep me in Europe over New Years, what do y'all think is the best European city to welcome in the New Year at? I would like to meet some new friends there like these. :D

Sijuki, I have been looking to see if I have given you a welcome to the boards, I don't think I have so here it is, and sorry for the delay!!!
To the Boards and to the family!!!
New Years Huh??
I will be honest, I have seen enough big city new years celebrations to last me a life time...
BUT
I would love to hit some small village or town pretty much anywhere in Europe east or west that i knew had a big deal thing on New Years, that I think would be my ideal New Years...Talk about a great way to get to know a culture...So thats mine anyway...

Wow... that is pretty amazing... I just did a little rework to my preliminary itinerary and happened to place myself in edinburgh for new years by chance. I must have some psychic connection or something. I don't plan on being there till New Years 2005 (yeah starting early). So I will look into it around then for booking, but thanks for the tip.
Yeah, drink it up with the Scots.. maybe through a few stones.

I know Phish. But they ain't big here. I think they're more popular with american university students. As for new years hmmm haven't even thought about it. Last year was fun, i went on a pubcrawl (a classy one though with dressy clothing and buffet meal etc) but I don't even remember the clock strikin twelve cuz i was so toasted. So my goal this year is to actually remember drinking champage at midnight!

Dio,
yeah I am a man. I am glad to be lucky.
Adam,
Yeah I have heard of Phish, I even have downloaded some of their stuff from shows. I thought they had broke up though? Guess not. That would be cool to see them in Miami, actually it would just be cool to be in Miami for New Years. I am sure there are some hella parties down there.

well my girlfriend reads the boards so I cant say exactly what I have planned...
but lets just say that it will be a surprising night for her
We are either going to Vegas or San Francisco, I havent decided yet, but she has never seen snow so it will all be amazing for her to be in here in Reno during the winter.
I have a surprise for her (that I am currently paying off) and I plan to give it to her on New Years at 12:00 am so I know that this New Years will be the best for both of us :D
