a quality beer is a pound per pint in shops and up to 3 pounds in West End pubs. Not cheap - unless you are rich

cool. glad to hear you're having a good time. feel free to post whatever you experience in london. anthon and i are trying to plan a trip to the UK this spring and i'm sure we'll be flying into london. i've never been there (anthon has) and it's be good to brush up on the city and such and what better way than through the eyes of another traveler.

have safe travels!

Only when coming from a Canadian perspective can you probably call beer cheap in London! Eastern Europe, I can understand calling it cheap no matter which western country you're from...but London? 2 pounds is $3.50 US and 3 pounds is just over $5. That's not outrageous, but certainly not "cheap."

there are ususally specials like 3.50 for a pint from the major brewers. there is even a rumored .50 cent draft night of canadian but i've yet to find that bar, and its most likely got a huge cover

Saskatoon ends up having a lot of drink specials to bring crowds to the bars...so it was usually $2.25-$3 a drink, sometimes only liquor, sometimes including bottled beer.

But anyways, I'm sure I'll drink plenty of pints when I'm in the UK, regardless of the price! That's part of the trip!

the cheapest booze I ever found in london was bottles of frascatti at Tesco's for just under two pounds. Tastes like piss and vinegar but a bottle or two should get you nice and drunk. My favorite cheapie was 2-litre bottles of Strongbow... Sitting on the front steps, drinking one of those, passing a joint, playing footie in the street... Ah, memories.
