Hello! I would like to recommend a great night out in Prague. Me and my friend have been living in this wonderfull partytown for five years now, and are running a pubcrawl for those who want to get to know all the great (and cheap) places in one night....
We meet at "Staromestska" metro station at seven every day exept sundays, and for 450 crowns we give you a meal, go to six bars, tell you about the clubs and lots of other stuff....beers and a surprise drink included!!
Have great travels, and me and mister Huggy hope to show you a great time in Prague! Take care, Joeri.

I recently visited prague as a lone traveller, and absolutely fell in love with it. I would encourage anyone who is considering a trip there to go for it, and I hope that you enjoy it as much as i did !

One piece of advice - don't go out clubbing the night before you have to catch your flight home and crawl into the hostel at 7am, so drunk that you can't remember where you are meant to be flying to, and have to be carried to the train station by a kindly fellow student and flung bodily onto the train. It will hurt a lot the next day. Apart from that - prague is one of my top recommendations !!

Hey TP,

Where are you travelling from ? I came from N.Ireland and found everything to be ridiculously cheap - of course you can be ripped off if you try really hard !! An example - that fateful night I mentioned in my last post, myself, and 4 rugby playing students from sheffield had a 4 course meal (stupendous!!), 2 shots of vodka, 1 of absinthe (hint - DO NOT TRY THIS WHEN ALREADY DRUNK), and 5 pints of beer EACH, and the total bill was £11, including a tip. You'll love it. As the boys I was socialising with said, the beer was so cheap it bordered on free, and being from ireland, this was a distinct advantage. Despite the abundance of drinking opportunities, prague is a baeutiful city in itself, and there are endless, ainless strolls around the old town and plenty of chances to be cultured !! I went to a classical music recital (tickets £2) held in one of the most magnificent gothic cathedrals I'd ever seen, lit by candlelight. Amazing. Give me an email if you want any more info - good to chat to you !

Have a fab trip,

Olwen

Olwen,

I´m from Los Angeles, but right now living in
Madrid. Prague sounds super cheap! I had some
Absynth last week for the first time and that mother
was STRONG! I have friends from
Slovakia(formerly part of the Czech Rep) that
brought some with them from Spain, and they tell
me all the time about how cheap things in Slovakia
are. I have an invitation to head out there later this
summer. Slovakia is in the middle of everything.
It´s a few hours from Prague so I´ll definitely have
to hit that up. I´m tired of hearing about how
beautiful it is and tired of seeing it in
movies(Mission Impossible) that I know I need to
get out there ASAP to experience it for myself.

Did you find the Czech people to be quite friendly
and hospitable?

Thanks again for your input!

Travel and Party on bro,

TP

Hey TP, (what's your real name ?)

My flatmate was interailing last summer and absolutely loved slovakia - you'll have a blast. Prague is relatively expensive compared to the country areas, so if you are staying with friends it will be super-super cheap .. lucky you ! The people are fantastic, especially random people you meet on the bus (strange stories there !!), but because you know some slovakians you'll get to meet a lot more people, which is what always makes a memorable trip. Prague is very safe and friendly, and as a single girl travelling alone, I never felt threatened at all. I'm heading off to australia- new zealand - south pacific in a couple of weeks - have you ever visited that part of the world ? Any tips ?

Talk to you soon,
olwen

Sorry about that Olwen! Posted 5-31-2002 00:03

My humble apologies, sis.

I haven't been to Australia, New Zealand, or Asia, really. I went to the Philippines long ago, but was too young to remember.

I'd imagine that most of the packing and safety tips still apply and the good news is, is that there won't be a language barrier to overcome in at least 2 of the aforementioned places.

Asia (Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, China, etc...) is definitely on my "A-list" of place that I'd like to go to. I hear it's pretty cheap in most of the places there too. It's probably like the Asian version of Prague! I have a few friends that have visited all of the above and hear great things about them, especially Thailand.

Singapore, I hear, is really clean, strict, and you can basically knock it out in 2 days as it is very small. It's airport is quite busy so I hear it's cheapest to fly into Singapore, then take a train up to Thailand, Vietnam, and so forth.

I had a friend that stayed for a long time in a hut on a beach in Vietnam for dirt cheap. It was a while back, but I don't think pricmes have changed much.

I hope your travels are great and if you feel like writing any travel stories that I can post on TravelPUNK.co, I'm sure thousands of travelers present and in the future would love to read about your adventures(especially the Prague ones!hahaha...).

Take care and keep the pack on the back!

Tony

Hi guys,

I spent a week in Prague to see the new millenium in. What a week!! Such a snunning place and, as many of you appear to already know!, its an incredible place to go out on the town. We bought tickets for a massive club right on the river which cost about 8 quid! Imagine what you'd have paid for a similar club here in the UK! Then as midnight came around we left the club (we could get back in cos we had wrist bands) and went right to the middle of the Charles Bridge and drank champagne (£2 a bottle!) and celebrated with thousands of other people!! Wicked!!

As for your thoughts of Thailand, Australia and New Zealand, I can thoroughly recommend every one of them. In Thailand be sure to visit, Kanchanaburi (Great place to chill out - Jolly Frog guest house - Right on the river), Koh Samet (hour long massage on the beach £3!), Koh Tao (Stunning little island) and Koh Phi Phi (Beautiful but a great place to party - Although I heard that the Thai government is thinking about stopping tourists visiting cos its getting too popular since 'The Beach' was filmed there). Australia is my favourite place to visit of all (so far!) Such a diverse range of places to see and people to meet. From the stunning natural scenery (Jim Jim Falls - not to be missed) to the cracking city life. Melbourne and Sydney were excellent. As for New Zealand, such a beautiful place and such nice people. If you get a chance to visit any of these places you'll have a great time.

Happy travels, IanB
