Well, it looks like my next trip (besides the impending Coachella shindig) is now officially booked - 4 days in New Orleans, Fri Jun 24 to Mon Jun 27. This time it's not for a work function but for - drum roll please...
A bachelor party! And no, it's not me who's getting married. :P A Thursday night red-eye followed by four days of fatty fried foods, hampering humidty, and depraved debauchery. My liver is already looking at me with contempt. Laissez les bons temps rouler! |
Ahhh....naawlins.....i'm jealous
Nice, very nice Omi!

Man June will be here before we know it!!!!!! Damn, New Orleans in June is going to be a *scorcher*!!!!!!! |
 Sweet dude! Beth and I and a couple of other people are heading down to New Orleans in a couple of weeks :stoked: We're meeting a friend of mine down there who will be visiting from Malta too.
Should be fun, but yeah, I'm worried about the heat and humidity - however, the date wasn't up to me... It'll be nearly as humid for the wedding in Michigan in August, I'm sure. Gah.
Don't worry Omi, I am sure you will be spending plenty of time in air conditioned comfort in all of the performance art you will be attending.
Ah! HOw did you know I was into performance art??
You may want to call the hospital ahead of time so that you have a bed and the appropriate IV's waiting for you in order to detox for a couple weeks when you get home.
How did this go? Report, please?
(I may be goin' there in a month...?) |
A bachelor party participant never tells! ;)
First night we did the typical Bourbon Street thing - drunkenness, titty bars, more drunkenness, and ended up at a gay club at the end, hoping to hook the groom up with a dude. Second night I don't really remember. I recall having a really bad headache for much of the evening, going to catch some blues band, and then I split early to go take care of my head. Third night was a super-fancy meal at the new restaurant La Luna, overlooking the river.. that was fantastic. Followed by bar-hopping in a big square, going down Decatur to Esplanade, up to Rampart, and back to Canal. No tourists, lots of nutty locals, super-cheap beer. Our days were generally spent at a locals dive bar on Decatur, Aunt Tiki's, where we made friends with the staff and my friend got to serve drinks for a bit. The folks there invited us to this clothing-optional party on Sunday (hah!) but we'd already booked a swamp tour for that time slot. Oh well! Oh, and Ferdie sandwiches from Mother's are da bomb, yo. |
