id like to spend around 3 nights each in mykonos, corfu, ios and santorini. any other recomendations? also, if you have 3 to 4 months in europe how much time should i allocate to greece if i want to party and also hit the sites? for history i know theres athens, and i think crete is another good one. any others? id like to see sparta but i dont think theres much there in the way of ruins. is 3 weeks in Greece enough including travel time?

this will probably be at the midpoint of my trip so hanging out at the beach would be a good idea at this time.

Just got back from a week in Greece. Athens, in my opinion, is a big, dirty, ugly city - probably two or three days max would do there. We spent four days in the pelopennese - there's lots to see there, not just Sparta. We stayed in Nafplio, very pretty and central, easy bus connections to Argos, Epidavros, Arcocorinth and lots of other places. Depending on how much you want to squeeze in in any given day, you could easily fill more than a week just on the peninsula (it's an island now), but four or five days would probably give you a good sense of the region. Lonely Planet has a Pelop. only guidebook - check it out of the library and figure out how much you want to do there and reckon a few more weeks for the rest of the country. I'd have loved to have more time in country, but life interferes with travel, sometimes...
