Just Wondering - TravelPUNK Backpacker College Student Budget Travel Message Boards!

Hi all
This is actually my first post on TP so here it goes.
My friend and I are going for a month trip to Europe and we are completely stumped

. If we leave Amsterdam with some souvenirs (Weed or Mush) to last the rest of our trip will neighboring countries be strict about searching us and or if they find anything how strict are they about drugs? Or is it better to try and find the stuff in the different countries we travel to?

on trains they don't search when going across borders, but personally I wouldn't risk getting thrown in jail in a foreign country....but the choice is yours.
the question is:
is weed that important to you?

Don't take the chance. You don't want to risk being deported in the middle of your adventure, and on top of that having a permanent stain on your travel record.

Weed and hash enjoy a "semi-legal" or tolerated status in much of Europe... so while it may not be legal to sell outside of the Netherlands, per se, it's not illegal to possess it in a lot of places. (i.e. Switzerland, Spain) All you have to do is ask around at your hostel and someone can probably find you a hook-up.

Lol, are u kidding, drug smuggling is the easiest thing in the world in europe. Just dont travel by plane where they are bound to catch you. Trust me they wont search you, not even look in your pockets !!!.

Possession or smoking of Pot in Greece is worth 4 years in their prison.

So no one touches it there (well no one I knew, and I tend to hang in pot smoking crowds)

As nice as it would be to have some bud for the rest of your trip, don't take the chance of going over any boarders with it.It's really not worth the trouble it could bring

I know a guy who went from a-dam to london and then to nyc with 3 or 4 ounces, didnt get caught. But honestly, its not worth it. If you dont use it all, sell it at your hostel and then in the next hostel, someone will undoubtedly be able to hook you up. that said, do not buy from people off the street. Bad idea. you walk down the street and someone whispers "hash" in your ear, ignore them. In london you can buy bud and shrooms in stores, and its not difficult to get harder stuff. Its even easier other places. Not not not not worth it.

ok i don't like to be the devil and i would probaly still avoid carrying anything over a little. but my mate thought exactly what you did, and picked up in A-Dam 2 weeks latter he gets pulled on a train by a cop and a dog, they jsut took all the shit of him and told him to sit down. I recon as long as you haven't got to much it is very unlikely you will go to jail. It should not be to hard to score while in any of the other country's your in so don't worry, and as someone else has already said don't possese anything in Greece it really is very different there

I say if you have any left just before your about to leave just smoke the lot, as much as you can.

Having said this I barely made it to the bus station to catch my overnight bus to Copenhagen after doing this! I also got paranoid at the German border passport check, good times

I've brought weed on the ferry from Ireland to England before I've found the best way to avoid them is to pretend to be asleep, or better yet, actually be asleep. If you can, it won't look good if your driving a car or someit.
