Planning on going skiing in Europe early next year - I was wondering if anyone here has been and can recommend a mountain / country / resort etc.
I'd like somewhere with a decent number of downhill runs / chair lifts - and as few kids as possible. Somewhere cheapish too - i expect this will be the most expensive part of our holiday, but there are limits ! ;) Also - whats the best time to go ? thanks, Wyzfen |
Interlaken Switzerland and the towns above it are a skiing mecca in winter. It may not be the cheapest place, but I know its one of the best in Europe. The Italian alps would probably be a little cheaper.

Yeah, I've always heard good things about Switzerland, esp. Saus Vae (sp?)...

Austria, France, Italy, Norway, Switzerland, Norway. any of those countries

Well, i think we'll go to italy - the dolomiti superski region looks nice.
Now we just need to pick which of the 12 regions to stay in. Each region is about the size of the ski fields i've been to before in australia (but with longer runs) - and they're all connected with lifts :) Thanks for the suggestions. I've been looking for somewhere less touristy than switzerland / france (where everyone seems to go). I had thought that Interlaken was THE place the tourists go - not for me :P Rozza : you like Norway i take it ? ;) never considered going up north for skiing - might have to look into it. Wyzfen |
