Hey guys - need some help here.

I will be backpacking solo up from Spain into France between the 3rd or 4th and the 10th of this Jan. Should I stay a night or two in Andorra? I've heard some good, somebad about this country. Any hostel/cheaphotel/sweetspot recommendations/?

Thanks :worship:

My friends from near the area say it's nothing special, but I'd stay a night there just to check another country off the list! :)

I went from Pamplona to Barcelona and thought about stopping there but didn't think it would be worth it. I heard it is really beautiful but not too much to do unless you have $$ to spend and want to shop. Apparently it is a haven for shopping because I think it's tax free or something?

Worldwidemike was in Andorra in the past several months... you could send him a PM with some questions. I think he liked it if I remember correctly.

Andorra is a very pretty country. A lot of what you can do depends on what time of the year you go there. In Winter, there's lots of skiing. In summer, the skiing areas become hiking areas.

If you want just a quickie, check out my web page below to see what I did. There's this really cool cobblestone path running along the hills above Andorra Le Vella (the capital/main town). The Andorrans use it as a jogging path, dog walking spot, picnic area -- you name it.

Be sure to take the quick little tour of the Casa de la Vall -- the one real historic building in town. Interesting stuff...especially the historic information.

As for the shopping and duty free stuff...well, frankly, I wasn't interested. If I want to buy electronics, I'll buy it at home. It is a pleasant town and country, though, and I highly recommend it for a day or two...

Sorry, but what language do they speak there? Spanish, Catalan, Basque, or French? or just something completly different?

If I remember right, it was Catalan...however, I'm sure you can get by with Spanish. I had no problems, and I speak neither...
