I'm thinking about staying at Ashlee House in King's Cross. Is this a good place to be as far as location?
Cheers.........

King's Cross is a bit sketchy at night - even our cab driver was a bit apprehensive about dropping us off at an after-hours club there. But it's relatively central, and distances feel awfully short around that part of town. The only complaint I had about being out late around there was that there was only one nightbus line going through the neighborhood, and it didn't come very often... and it was damn near impossible to hail a taxi. But I guess if you're staying/going out around there, then it's not that much of an issue. (A lot of the big clubs like The Cross, Turnmills, Fabric, etc. are nearby)

Personally, I'd rather stay in the west end, but that's a matter of preference.

Thanks, man! I have to say, I have been noticing a lot of your posts and you dish it out well! I am in such a pickle about London for some reason...what do you prefer for lodging locations as far as something that is not tooooo crazy as far as wacky drunk bastards (I am allowing myself some wacky drunk bastard time at the Pig in A-dam!!)? Soooo...I was looking into a place in Bloomsbury & that seems OK, yeah?
Grazie!

Thanks.. I try

I don't know Bloomsbury, so I can't give ya guidance that way. I generally stay at the Astor Hyde Park over in Bayswater. It can be wild & crazy or mellow - the place is big enough that you can lean whichever way you want. I love the neighborhood, but I'm a bit biased since I lived around there as a kid. It's a few minutes by Tube to just about everything, and if you decide to hoof it from the center of town, it's only about a 25 min., well-lit walk home.

Re: The Pig - yeah, save up some bloodshot-eyes time for that place...
