I am seriously thinking about becoming an exchange student next fall at the University of Northumbria in Newcastle England next fall. Has anyone been an exchange student in england that could shed some light on it. Really any info on Newcastle at all would be awsome!! Thanks.. xxx

Newcastle... Well. It's a decent-sized city for English standards, has a modern art gallery [the Baltic] which often hosts touring art [and the rest of England protests as, 'who in Newcastle would ever want to see art?'] - many clubs, pubs etc, decent shopping. *thinks* Good transport. Can't think of any other points of interest about it, really - 'cept, if you do get there, it's got transport links to the country, the coast, etc. Oh! And Northumbria's Union gets quite a few decent gigs - I'm going to see HIM play there in October. *g*

Augh! Do it, I say!
Newcastle is within spitting distance of one of the cooler historical sights in Britain: Hadrian's Wall. Built all the way across the neck of England by the Romans, it's a neat hike, meandering across hills, pasture down into valleys, etc. Some of the milecastles are just piles of stones, others are fairly reconstructed. It's also funny to see where farmers have pulled stones from the Wall over the centuries for their fields. And you won't be far from Scotland, either! Plenty of things to do around Newcastle. Plus, it's the home of my second favorite beer in the whole world: Newcastle Brown Ale. worldwidemike |
