Default Anyone been to Campsite Innsbruck Kranebitten

Hi,

I will be going to Innsbruck this summer and finding a cheap hostel is hard. So, i have found this campsite as a cheaper alternative.

However, I have never stayed at a campsite and need to know what it is like and how it works.

Also have these questions:

1) Are they in tents or caravans?
2) shower facilities is this outsdoors?
3) what about breakfast
4) and heating?
5) do you pay for anything extra?
6) anything else i need to know?
7) What equipment do i need to bring?
8) is this place easy to get to?

look forward to hearing from you

Innsbruck, so Austria, right?? I was there on a "tour" once, so I was in a hotel. In retrospect it does strike me as less hostel/backpacker friendly.

Good luck!

I have been to Innsbruck twice and stayed at two different hostels.

There is the HI hostel which is a little bit out of town (but can get the bus there). It feels sterile and a bit like an instituition but is the cheapest option. The lockout period during the day can be a bit of a nuisance.

Alternatively, there is St Nikolaus which is more central but more expensive. It's a real hit and miss afair. The rooms are a bit crammed and bathroom facilities not great. The owners are a bit strange including the old fat German guy (in his defence he drove us to a nightclub in the middle of the night!). They have an underground bar called the 'Iglu' which is cool to hang out in.
