Default Added Reykjavic, Iceland to our itenarary. OOH YEAH

So since we are connecting in and out of Reykjavic Iceland on the way, and we were having problems connecting to the states on the way back, we decided to add 2 days and stay in Reykjavic. Really excited to go to the Blue Lagoon thermals, supposed to be very unique. Also with 20 plus hours of daylight a day in July, we will have a shit load of time. Be warned, hostels are expensive, the cheapest is $48. per person in a 6 bed dorm room. WHOA. But how often does one get to hang in Iceland.

JOE - Thanx for mentioning the Iceland air deal for stayovers. That inspired us to call and get it going.

Heres what the Blue Lagoon is like

Yeah, the blue lagoon is a very interesting piece. Heres a little info on it. We are still jammin on the randomness of adding Iceland to the trip. Gotta love how things happen. Part of the Adventure

Easily the most photographed site in all of Iceland, The Blue Lagoon is perhaps the most supernatural looking body of water on Earth. Descriptions of its waters range everywhere from “the same color as the new Gatorade drink” to “frosty blue.” Though the latter term may sound good, the water in the lagoon is anything but “frosty.” The temperature in the swimmable area averages about 40C (104F), and the soothing, mineral-rich water is rumored to have curative powers.

Though the lagoon looks like something born from Iceland’s otherworldly landscape, it is actually man made. It was created by run-off from the Svartsengi power plant, which pumps up the geothermally heated water from a full mile below the surface. After being used to generate both heat and electricity, the excess (which is absolutely clean) is ejected into the lagoon.

Glad I could help

That blue lagoon has interested me ever since I read about it a few years back. Also congrats on getting recognized

I wonder if the hostels are expensive because they know most backpackers are just stopping through for a day or two (usually at the beginning of their trip) and don't mind paying an inflated rate? I don't think I ever paid more than 25 bucks for a hostel.
