Thumbs up

Hello,

Just seeing what your views are on travelling to the North of England... not sure anyone really bothers with it but can't understand why??

There are some cracking cities (Newcastle, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, etc) and spectacular scenery (the Lakes, the Dales), with loads of history, activities, drink, music, sport and food to fill the gaps. Plus it's all a million times cheaper than London.

What does anyone reckon?

Thanks for your help!

Well, my grandma lives in Blackpool, so we went to see her a few years back - Blackpool wouldn't necessarily be my first choice of travel destination, but well, she's lived there for over 90 years, I guess I can make the trip! Haven't made it to the Lake District, but various family members have done so and loved it, I'd definitely put the north on an itinerary if we were going for another visit.

Reason enough to go North:

Pint of beer in a London pub: £3.30
Pint of beer in a Manchester pub: £1.85

And if you're into history, does it get much better than hiking along Hadrian's Wall....? And for cities, don't forget Eburacum...er, sorry, got lost in my Roman Thoughts...they call it York, nowadays...
