hey guys!

so i'm heading out on my first trip to italy next thursday and i am officially freaking out!!
i have researched and planned as much as i care to and i feel i'm as ready as i want to be--have a loose itinarary and the rest i'm just going to wing it.
but the thought of getting on a plane and flying to italy--alone is freaking me out! first off i hate flying--like, really hate flying. i have the good pills to chill me out, but add that to the excitement and nerviousness and its making my head spin. i have been eating, sleeping and breathing italy for the past 2 months cause i'm so excited...this is an amazing experience that i'm getting and i can't freaking wait!! but at the same time, i feel like i have a zillion things to do before i go--but when i make a list, its not really that much stuff...
ug!
any ideas what i can do about this?!
anyone else get this too?!
help!

Awesome, NYCgirl...awesome. Italy is my most favorite country to visit. I've always said I could go back there every year for 10 in a row and STILL not see everything I'd want to. I've been there 3 times, now, and have enjoyed everyone.

As for freaking out, or it being overwhelming that you are actually going to be in Italy after reading about it so much, well, that's fairly normal. There are times when I'm overseas and I it just kind of hits you...."Wow...I'm in Hong Kong!" It'll be less overwhelming after a few times, but still, there's the wow factor.

Heck, that feeling, that wonder is part of why we travel...

What movies have you watched? La Dolce Vita is awesome.

What WWM says about going back to Italy is true. There's a saying "Rome a lifetime is not enough."

Of course you're nervous. You're going to be flying to a foreign country! It's ok to be anxious. You'll be fine.

Italy is the most pleasurable country in Europe. God willing I'll be painting in Rome the last week in August until October.

I've been to Italy three times in three years.

((( Northern Light (Original Mix) by Smith & Piedger ))) :greenguy:

Eh, chill being nervous is sometimes great, it gives you that rush that makes you make those fun random things!

after spending my formative years in new zealand reading about italy, learning latin (!!!) for 3 years at school, devouring everything with an italian flavour, re-reading all my asterix comics, becoming addicted to pesto and anything with basil in it i can understand your excitment about coming to italy. now i live here.
i remember the first time i saw the colosseum in rome, my brain couldnt actually process it as real at first , it was still a picture in my text book from high school so i had to run up and touch it, then it was real.
you will get over the shock in a couple of days and start to really enjoy everything you see and do and have a blast. Save the excitement for when you get here, then you can make everyone back home really jealous with the emails.
