God willing I am going to Greece for the first time to explore some islands then take a ferry to Italy and travel on a railpass for a month before staying in Rome.

I was wondering..would it be better to change my flight to leave from Rome instead of going back to Athens to fly home. I imagine a ferry across the Adriatic Sea in the fall could be adventurous. :starwars:

Depending on where/when you travel, you could run into schedule changes, too - so take that into account! A lot of things shut down after the busy tourist season in Greece. If you can change your departure to Rome, you'll have more time to paint, since you won't have to make the long commute. Or you might be able to get a cheap flight from Rome to Athens...

The plane ticket is a flexible ticket and it cost 1189 R/T from August to November. the woman that booked it said that Athens is the most expensive city to fly into this summer but that is a good price. I haven't decided whether to do it yet.

Are you absolutely committed to flying into Athens in the first place? You might be able to find a cheaper Rome/Rome flight and then catch a low cost flight to Athens or Thessaloniki...

If you do make it to Greece, I would HIGHLY recommend Nafplio. The city is Venetian, with striking fortresses, sheer cliffs and stunning views. If you were to paint it, I might need to buy it... It's also easy to get to lots of other places on the peninsula, Korinth, Argos, Epidavros, etc.
