since i'm doing florence for 3 1/2 days, i thought i would take the train to pisa as a side trip. cant find much there that i would want to stay over night and its not the direction i'm heading in after florence...litterly just want to check it out...see the tower and another city in italy, etc.
the train is only an hour from florence....this can be a day trip, right?
thanks!

i just left pisa actually. i flew into pisa spent the day then took the train to florence from there. its an easy train ride, like an hour and it doesnt cost much. pisa is easy to do in a day also. in fact there really isnt too much to do in pisa besides look at the tower. you can go up it but it seems a little overpriced. there are tons of vendors selling all sorts of crap on the street and its entertaining to look at for a little but pisa can easily be done in a day.
from what i was told, they said stay away from the restuarants close to the tower since they are geared towards tourists and arent as good. but because it was sunday and the hour they were the only place open and i actually really enjoyed my meal. i dont go for the whole italian order 4 courses deal, so instead i just had some spaghetti which was good and stared out at the leaning tower at night with my girlfriend. it was super mellow and while pisa isnt the coolest place in the world, that dinner, looking out at the leaning tower and just talking away was really memorable. so i'd say go for pisa. its relaxed and cool, if not a little overpriced in general.

My sister claims that the pizza we had almost across the street from the tower was the best pizza she's ever had in her whole life.
I don't really remember myself, but it was pretty good.
don't remember the price either though....but I didn't freak out about the bill that's for sure

yeah, i stopped in pisa for an hour in between cinque terre and florence. off the train, onto a bus to the square with the tower, then back on the bus and onto another train. easy peasy.
