ok, i'm at a loss...

looking for some beaches to hit up while i'm in italy, i just have no clue where to go. since i'll be making my way from rome up to milan and stopping along the way, i'm thinking of cinque terre....camogli, monterosso....?!
i would prefer not to do the daytrip thing...as in find some place to stay on the coast rather then stay in the city and take a train.

all ideas welcome!

anyone wanna join me?!

well, I live 20 minutes from the beach in Italy. Good beaches are on the east side..Ravena, Rimini, that is the area that I go to on Sundays. It is packed, but the water is still a little chilly. At night the club seen in that area is great! Sat nights are wild around there. I am not much of a clubber but let me know whats up. From Rome to Milan, I am way out of the way. It would just be a longer trainride back to Milan. You could probably find a hostel in Ravena, and if you don't creep me out you can hang with us. just kidding. PM (personal message) me if you want to know more. How old are you? Travelling alone? Reservations in Milan?

Hey if you want to get a swim in just north of Rome there's a beach at Civitavecchia. It's right off the train and its not bad. There is blue water and a jedi that protects it but it's kind of flat. Good luck. I hope I hear about some good beaches to go to in Italy.

just out of rome there is the (ancient) Roman beach area of Ostia Antica, flat beaches, sun sand and roman ruins all in one. A lot of the beaches up the west coast can be pebbly but there are some sandy ones like at San Vincenzo and Grosetto, part of the Maremma national park, and these arent far from Pisa or Cinque Terre, another stunning area to explore. All the beaches are certified with the blue flag for cleanliness, the most flags awarded in the past 10 years, and you can find all sorts of beachy fun like diving, windsurfing, surfing and sailing. Or you can just hang out and watch the italian guys try to impress the italian girls. check out the tpunk accomm listings for these areas.
