The south coast is nice. Try places like Cornwall. South Wales is nice too. It really depends on far you want to go here. Caimbridge is a nice albeit expensive little town with lots of nice pubs.

Leigh-on sea all the way!!!!! If you want to experience eating cockles and jellied eals, in a quaint old fishing town then this is the place to be. And what's more, I live there so you'll have some damn fine company even if the weather's piss poor....... :D

Oh and if you have a weekend why not Rutland? Its a beautiful little county in the east midlands. The town is Oakham. I live next store in Leicestershire-another nice place.

Yeah, I would say Cambridge, it's right on the train line from London (and only a few stops from me!) so it's easily accessible. The pubs are good, the shopping is good, there's some nice parks there, or you can chill out by the river. Or, you can go punting down the river!

Ive only heard good things about New Quay, a small surfing town on the southwest coast (if Im not mistaken). Or the beach town of Brighton, a short train ride away from London.

Glastonbury is a nice day or several day's trip, you can get there by train or bus. Its very beautiful. Hike the Glastonbury Torr (there are several myths surrounding the place, one of them is that its the entrance to the underworld and Merlin put in a maze, another is that the cup of christ- the holy grail- is under there and a spring flows from it), visit the incredibly peaceful and gorgeous Chalice Well Gardens. The town is pretty cool, with all sorts of interesting shops that cater to mysticism. Check out the Glastonbury Abbey ruins. You can walk around it, wander the museum, and take tours I believe.
The whole area is very nice and green and wooded and hippie. I would like very much to go back for a little while.

Glastonbury- there and away
