I really want to get there sooner than later. It sounds like its on the virge of being the next Czech Republic in terms of droves of tourists. So I'd love to see it before its overrun. I'm hoping within the next year. The only thing preventing it from being a massive resort country seems to be a lack of transportation infrastructure. The only way to get around is by bus.

I'd like to hear of any 'must see' areas. I only know of a couple. Dubrovnik and one other in the northern part of the country where there's supposed to be some real great prestine roman ruins.

Yes, I've heard Croatia is a cool place and the beaches are gorgeous (as you can kinda tell from those pix).

I was just there, and coincidentally, I was born in Korcula, and even more coincidentally I have done some work for the ministry of tourism, so if you guys have questions, shoot, and IŽll answer whatever is in my capacity. True, the roads are shitty and not designed to take the ever growing number of tourists each year, but island hopping on farries is something you might want to consider. For unesco protected areas like Kornati Island, and especially Dubrovnik, book early, like right now. Have fun!

How touristy has it gotten recently? Budapest levels, Prague levels? What about language? Is it tough to communicate? Are the locals accomedating to english speakers?

I've never been there but when I was stationed in Bosnia I had some friends that went there and they absolutely loved it. They said it was pretty cheap too. Just be careful about the Croatian Plumb Brandy, I had some while in Bosnia and it was rough going down.
