Hey! I am planning on traveeling around eastern europe in september with a mate. We have booked flights into Prague on 1st september and are leaving from trieste on 23rd sept. We plan on spending a couple of days in Prague before travelling into and around Poland. Here we want to go to warsaw and krackow. After this we are not sure what we want to do, but would love to see budapest and the croatian coast. Other than that we are very flexible as to what to do. We want to do it as cheaply as possible. Where should we go etc? (we are both UK residents and are going to get an interrail pas i think)

Many thanks

Simon

Vienna, go to Vienna! Specially since it's only a couple of hours from Budapest. I think its a beautiful city. And try to get to at least one of the smaller towns in Czech - Prage really is a fairytale city, but always packed with tourists. The smaller places have got all of the prettiness, but less of the crowds.

I have some suggestions for other towns to see in Czech Republic. The one town I can speak from personal experience is Olomouc. It is much smaller than Prague (about 100,000 in population) and is very cheap. The center of the town is beautiful and it has some interesting things to check out there (a bar in an old airplane). It is about 2 1/2 hours from Prague from what I can remember. I would suggest this place.

Some cities that I have not been to but have heard a lot of good about. One is Cesky Krumlov. There is a fantastic castle there and it is starting to become a popular stop for backpackers. Another town is Karlovy Vary which is more of a resort town, but it is supposed to be quite cheap as well and very nice. Of course, what you like to do will depend on what towns are more to your liking (partying, seeing sights, museums)
