Default Working in Krakow, Poland.

Hi everyone!

Earlier this year I set about finding work in hostels around Europe. I basically found a bunch of hostels on Hostel World and then sent them messages individually, saying a little about myself and asking if they have summer vacancies. Well...49/50 didn't, however one guy in Krakow offered me a job behind the reception desk. I will work for 2 months before Uni at a hostel called "Goodbye Lenin Hostel", which seems nice and also highly rated.

In actual fact, my aim is to set my own hostel up when i finish education, but I have to admit... I have no idea how to go about this! I figure working at one personally is a great chance to ask all the right questions. Anyway, the point of this post...

I was wondering if anyone has worked in hostels before, and could maybe tell me how they found it, and whether they enjoyed the experience?

Also, if anybody knows some tips about setting up a hostel business, maybe some useful internet links etc, that would be massively appreciated!

Thanks again,

Stewart.

I cant help you on starting a hostel. I did however work at a hostel in Gimmelwald Switzerland once. It was one of greatest experiences Ive had. Alot of Hostels offer work for room and board Ive noticed. I later met a farmer near by and worked with him for 2 months. I highly suggest trying it out. Or you can find work for room and board with various people through out europe.

good luck

I haven't got advice on either, but I did meet a few people in Krakow when I was there last summer who were staying at that particular hostel and had a great time. Good luck!
