22 days trip - Eastern plus abit of Western Europe
I'm wondering if the below itinerary is doable for my 22 days trip in europe in august - sep next year..
My starting and ending destination will be Vienna:
1) Upon reaching Vienna, i'll be taking an overnight train on the same day to Krawkow (Krawkow for 3 days)
2) Krawkow - Prague (by train, 3.5 days in Prague)
3) Prague - Manchester (by BMIBabby, 1 day) --> i have to be in Manchester on at least one of the saturdays
4) Manchester - Dublin (by Ryanair, 4.5 days in Dublin)
5) Dublin - Berlin (by Ryanair, 4 days in Berlin)
6) Berlin - Budapest (by Easyjet, 1.5 days in Budapest)
7) Budapest - Vienna (by train, 4 days in Vienna (including a trip to Salzburg)
i know i'm flying all over the place.. but that's the only way i can factor in the cities i want to visit.. ryanair dont fly into vienna , easyjet dont fly into dublin or manchester , BMIbaby dont fly into Berlin ... for the train, i'll be buying the European East Pass - 5 days tix.. i'm estimating the cost of the air tix and train here to be around 450 euros..
by the way, the manchester trip is a must as i wanna go for a soccer match assuming the match is on a saturday or sunday (and a home match at that!) will have to wait til when next year's schedules are out.. hehe..
any suggestions to get me out of this mess or a cheaper way to get around? or is this fine??
thanks!!

Sounds great. Manchester is a good airport and a city with lots to do. I absolutely love Berlin its crammed with museums and land marks you'll have a lot to do there.

this sort of sounds like the trip I'm taking in June.... hitting up a good bit of Germany, plus Prague, Krakow, and most likely I am flying into and out of Zurich or Frankfurt. I'm doing the rail thing the whole time, I'm not flying anywhere, but am considering flying to and from Krakow because I want to maximize my time there.
Sounds like a good trip though, good luck with your planning!!

They fly to Bratislava, Slovakia which is a 20 minute bus ride away. You can also get from Dublin to Salzburg on Ryanair (I did this in reverse). If you have never been to Munich, I think I would recommend it over Salzburg.
Just something to consider.
And yes seems very doable, have a good time

I really enjoyed Budapest. Anytime you're in a city for less than 2 days you really don't get much more than travel time. But you might have more planned in Vienna... whatever. Good luck with the trip, looks like fun.

thanks for the replies!!
after much consideration i have changed my itinerary as follows --> Start and End at Manchester
Manchester - (by air) Prague - (train) Krakow - (train) Vienna (Includes Salzburg) - (train) Budapest - (air) Berlin - (air) Dublin - (air) Manchester.
the cities and number of days to stay in each cities are basically the same. but i will have to time my flight according to the soccer match in manchester when the schedule for next season comes out.
do you guys recommend salzburg? i heard from few friends that its beautiful there.. but if budapest is a better choice, i might just head straight to budapest and spend a day more there.. and also, Berlin and Munich, which is more recommendable??
pinknic38 --> what type of pass will you be getting??

I would swap Budapest and Vienna (you waste some time backtracking unless it is by night train)
Salzburg is nice but I think you can see similarly spectacular scenery in Bavaria (at Neuschwanstein for example). If you had more time I would recommend it as a dedicated stay but I think you can easily do it as a day trip from Munich. Budapest is beautiful if the weather cooperates.

I would say cut Budapest if you're only going to spend 1.5 days there. You will be so tired and you won't see much. Allot the time to another city(ies) and I think you will find it much more enjoyable. Also unless you have something special going on in Dublin I would try to cut some days there. There isn't that much to see but there is a lot to drink!

Berlin and Munich are both cities worth visiting, but Berlin is my favorite city in the world so I would go there over Munich. It could be more convienent to go to Munich from Austria, but if you're flying it probably won't matter.
I think the city order of your new schedule makes a lot of sense. I made the mistake of only have a day in Budapest, I definitely should have planned two or three at least.
I also agree that Dublin might be a good day to cut off a few days if you need them somewhere else. Unless you're going for the beer, there isn't much in the way of tourist attractions; I think you could see it all in a full day.
