Through my painful search for a place to stay in Moscow, I went by quite a few number of helpful sites. For anyone interested in staying in Moscow or St.Petersburg for a week to several months, without getting bankrupt, here are some excellent options (they all responded to my inquires) :

in 2004 i graduated from Utah and went to Moscow for a month. The best place i found was www.russiangirlfriday.com . The girl who runs the website gave me the email of her cousin who gave me a good deal for the month.
