Hi Folks,

Still trying to iron out all the logistics in a proposed solo trip that looks more and more realistic by the day!
While I haven't really prepared an itinerary, I've got just under two months (Jun 22-Aug 22). My question is regarding finding a way back from Eastern Europe to Paris (my flight is in and out of De Gaulle).

I'm really set on getting to Croatia to see the Dalmatia coast and Dubrovnik, and just my luck, there is a international medical student conference in the Zlatibor region of Serbia that I MAY be attending... while nothing is set in stone just yet, the meeting would be from August 1-7, and I was hoping to time my travels to be able to somehow find a way from Dubrovnik through to the meeting.

But once I'm done the meeting, what the heck is the best way of getting out of there and back to Paris? I suppose I still have roughly 2 weeks afterwards, but not sure what the best route would be to get back.

Any ideas?

(As a bit of background, my initial idea was to pick up a selectpass for: France, Benelux, Italy, and then possibly Germany and Slovenia & Croatia.)
Would there be a better country to include to make a better, more efficient "circle" by rail? For instance, would it be smart not to include S&C on the pass and replace it with something?

Thanks!

Not sure if you can get one pass that would include Slovenia, Serbia and Croatia with western Europe...double check that, though. Austria is a good gateway to eastern Europe, so if you could add that, it would probably help you out. Rail travel east of Austria is pretty cheap, so buying point to point tickets shouldn't set you back too far. From Serbia you could head up to Hungary and then west (I'm sorry I don't have my rail map handy, so I don't know what the trains are like, but check www.diebahn.de for schedules throughout Europe. They don't have pricing info outside of Germany.)

From Austria to Paris is easy, though time consuming, you might want to consider a cheap flight from Vienna, and spend a little longer in the east before heading back. It's magical.
