Default Hippo Hostel, Budva Montenegro

I wanted to be somewhere in the Dubrovnik but without the Dubrovnik prices. Enter Budva. This place is really incredible. A true beach town, picturesque Stare Grad (old town), and to top it off, a mountains cove with an island in the middle of a lagoon. Oh yeah, it is also dirt cheap. Last night I had 4-5 beers, 2 bacon wrapped chicken kebabs, two steak kebabs, 1 lb of potatoes, a banana all for about 8 euros.

The hostel is conveniently located to the rest of the city but far enough away that all the shops are considerably cheaper than the tourist traps right next to the coast. The place is laid back and the staff is great.

Unfortunately if you plan to hit this place up, you need to do it soon, there will be no reservations accepted after Nov 1 2008. So if your summer plans involve the Dalmatian coast, I HIGHLY recommend Hippo. You can book it here
