Sir Toby's, Prague, Czech Republic - Awesome
 

I recently spent 2 nights at Sir Toby's Hostel in Prague. ttp://www.sirtobys.com/ I booked the place directly from their website for the low low fee of only 1 Euro. They belong to the GoMio.com group of hostels.

This was a great place. We had a room on the 4th floor with skylights in it, bright blue walls, and posters from Ikea. Typical, but really pretty too. And all the rooms seemed to be similar. Other backpackers told us they had the rain style showerheads in their bathrooms. We have the traditional showerhead, but it was hot and steady pressure and helped us get through the end of a strenous trip.

While a little further from the Old City or Prague Castle, i think that's what kept the prices down. It was very cheap. Also, its right on the tram line and near the second largest train station (and the station that runs a bus right to the airport) so its really accessible. The place was also full when we got there so I was glad I had that reservation. The building is awesome, thre is a lift up to the 3rd floor and a basement with a quiet room, lockers, oh, and a pub that serves beer everynight after 8 for a nominal fee. The staff was really helpful, drawing out the tram lines on top of the tourist map so we could get ourselves where we needed to be. The second night there they hosted a free barbeque for everyone staying there with burgers, sausages, chips, and tons of other goodies. They also organize side trips to Kunta Hora and Cesky Krumlov, but we didnt have enough time to join one. the common room here was always full of people chatting, as was the backyard and the downstairs pub. Travelling in a group of 4 makes it hard to meet other people, but we didn't have a problem here as we made some great "two-day best-friends" and ended up doing a pub crawl all together the second night. I would definitely check this place out if you're headed to Prague. They are also partners with two other Prague hostels but I don't know anything else about them. They are the Czech Inn and Aunt Sophie's.

Full Disclosure: I am 26 years old, travelling with my 26 year old wife, 22 year old brother, and 18 year old sister. We always stayed in a 4 person en-suite room. This could definitely skew our impressions so I wanted to include it. Feel free to contact me if you have questions.

I also just stayed at Sir Toby's and I recommend it as well. The being away from the town center is a bit of a downside but you can't have everything and the pub in the basement is pretty sweet. You can also take advantage of cheap eats near the hostel because it is in Prague 7 in a working class neighborhood.
