So I'll be hitting up Prague for a couple days and I'm a little hard pressed to find recommendations for Hostels in Prague.
Anyone been there and have any opinions?
Another thing, what's the best stuff to see and do in Prague?

Hi,
Sorry I haven't been to Prague yet, but can't wait to make that trip soon!
Well, I don't think you need to worry too much though, especially if you're into architecture, everything has been relatively well preserved from the war, and walking through the city, I hear, is like walking through an open air museum!
Have fun and keep us posted!

as for a place to stay in prague, one of the times i went there, I was approached by a person in the train station for a place to stay, and it turned out to be his house, and it was cool and only $8 dollars at that time.
the second time I went I stayed at this place called Atlas Hostel, that place was $15 euros and it was also really cool. its right in the center of prague.
as for things todo there, drink beer its really cheap
I went to local bars around the area, and some clubs there and it was awesome. I dont remember the name of the clubs. sorry.

stay at the elf hostel, its one of the best hostels you'll ever stay at in your life. i dont want to say anything over the internet, but when you go you'll know what im talking about. i stayed there for 3 weeks, while i was travelling. its only like 10 euros and well worth it. its very clean and the showers are great. you cant say that about alot of places. but trust me go there, you wont regret it. i already reccommended it on this website.

I just left Prague a few days ago and I stayed at a hostel called THE BOATHOUSE.....
It is about a 15 minute tram ride south of central Prague but it is very nice and relaxed....Its not really a party hostel, but there are a lot of very cool young people there....and best of all....EVERYONE is so friendly espicially the people who run the place....It is about 10 Euro to stay there.....They cook dinner for 3 Euro...and breakfast is 1 Euro....its very nice to have a good home cooked meal when you are on the road...
Its not too much of a party hostel but it is very much like home.....
Another good PARTY hostel there is "The Clown and Bard".......a lot of friends were staying there and they loved it..........

I have stayed at three hostels in Prague the past two years. One, The Boathouse was mentioned earlier. I would agree that this is an excellent place to stay. It is 15 minutes out of the town by tram and about another 5-10 minutes on feet, but it is clean, comfortable, and the owner is very friendly. The other two I have stayed at I would not recommend. These are Apple Hostel and A&O Hostel. Apple Hostel has perfect location, in the heart of downtown Prague, but when I was there the toilets did not work and they were not exactly in a rush to fix them. Also, the showers are communal and the "pillows" are really just blankets folded in half. A&O Hostel is outside one of the main train stations, so it is also a little on the outside of town. The place is dirty, and very hot in the summer. The showers were dirty and had no water pressure. They also ignored my reservation for a 6 bed room and put me in a 19 bed room. I have heard some good reports on Clown & Bard and Traveller's Hostel if you like to party and Sir Toby's is supposed to be an excellent hostel as well, but not a party one.

I recommend Strawberry Hostel. I lived there for a month during the floods of 2002 and was impressed. It's clean, cheap and in a cool neighbourhood. It's a student dorm during the school year for Charles University. There's a great pub in the square behind called U Sadu (sp?) as well. My Prague friends hang out there a lot. Also, up the street is the Zizkov beer garden, a very interesting and fun place to visit with both travelers and locals.

I've just spent most of the day trying to find someplace in Prague for our family (6 people). Anyone have any dirt (or preferably not!) on the Arena, Alice Apts, David's Stepanska St. Apt., B&B U Oty, Hostel Le Papillon or Guesthouse Dream?
Thanks!

Check out my previous post for a review on Arena. It is also called A&O Hostel (as I have it listed). To sum it up, avoid this place!
