Are meals included on international flights?

Hey, my "dumb question" is actually about flights, rather than about hostels or anything like that...

I'm flying Qantas for most of my RTW trip. Are meals on the plane included in the price?! I haven't flown long-haul in years, so I can't really remember how it all worked! I'm just curious I guess, eating is one of my favourite things to do, haha.

And from what I've seen on their website, their meals look yummy!!!

Yes, flights are included on all Qantas long-haul flights...

Generally, you'll be fed on just about any long-haul flight on major airlines, though some, like Continental, are starting to cheap out.

I think all international flights are all inclusive, but it pays to double check on domestic flights, especially in the US. I got stung on a flight last summer between Chicago and Seattle - about a four hour flight, I guess, but food was not included and you had to buy either a sandwich type meal (I think it was $7) or a "snack pack" (which was $5). Having been out of the states for two years, I didn't know about this little change in service. Travelling with four little kids, I was kind of irritated when I discovered this, but the worst was when the attendant came around asking for my order and then informed me that YOU HAVE TO PAY CASH. That was when I discovered that I had less than $5 in my wallet (why would you need cash in flight? You can hit a machine at the airport when you land!) but fortunately my daughter had a little change and we managed to scrape up enough for one snack pack. To split between the five of us.

Not necessarily. When I flew to Costa Rica on America West, I had to buy a meal if I wanted it. I opted to dig into my bag of beef jerky... I believe Air Canada charges for food on some international flights now, as well.

Well isn't that just pathetic. Guess I will need cash on those long haul flights from now on...

I went to america a few years ago for an 8 day holiday via Virgin, and I was very pleased with them. From what i can remember, and I havent been on many flights but it was one of teh best. It was my first long haul flight and I thought it went as well as can be expected, shame not alot can be done about the people near*

I flew royal brunie from oz, not sure if they fly to cananda, but anyway they were awsome with every gadget you can thing of including rdering meals when you feel like it
