Hey Luis, I was in the exact same boat three years ago! Didnīt have a travel partner, but the closer the date came and the more research I did, I was glad that I was going solo. Nervous a bit, but glad.
If you donīt find a travel partner, donīt sweat it. I know the kind of feelings that come with a first time experience/adventure/journey to self-disovery such as this, kind of a bitter sweet thing, but mostly sweeeeeeeeet
!
In my case, on the damn plane to Paris, I met a guy in my row that is now one of my best friends and is the one that encouraged me to start a website online that led to Tpunk! I left him and his group in Paris and headed up to Amsterdam where I met some backpackers from San Diego. Back into France, I hooked up with a French girl. Onward to Alicante, Spain, I met a Finnish girl that suffocated me for the whole day and a half, that I bolted to Madrid and met an awesome Danish girl at a park that I sat in for a couple of hours. That girl had been in Madrid for 3 months and also wanted to meet more people. She helped make my trip a life altering experience. The experience of being in a foreign city and seeing the life/culture through their eyes with their friends, and their partys and conversations. It was da bomb!
In any event, just keep in mind that if you donīt find any travel partners before you get there, donīt sweat it. Maybe itīs meant to be that way. That how I started looking at it too. This is your longtime DREAM vacation! Make the most of it by talking to as many people as you can. Be open and in the moment, and check out the local parks too. Lotīs of locals hang out there to read and relax and theyīre usually very friendly and approachable( as opposed to meeting a girl at a nightclub where they can be standoff-ish or have an attitude).
Youīll be traveling at the height of the travel season and believe me, there will be no shortage of backpackers/travelers to hook up with -in every city! If youīre naturally outgoing, youīll be absolutely fine B) !
Either way, please check in with us and let us know how your travels are coming along!
