i'm doing eastern europe.. never been..
would anybody like to meet up or have advice for Austria, Poland, Germany(Berlin), Czech Republic, Hungary.... |
I have been to Berlin. Awesome (yet huge) city. I stayed on the eastern part at the Bax Pax hostel for 12 euros. It was my cheapest place in all of Europe and very cool. It is also RIGHT next to the U-bahn.
I suggest you see: Reichstag The Zoo! - its actually HUGE and really cool. Tiergarten - nice park Brandenberg Gate Checkpoint Charlie Berlin Wall (Postdamerplatz on the S-bahn) Pub Crawl (very cool bars, pamphlets in hostel) Beer, of course. Enjoy it man I am jealous! Foo  |
I definitely recommend Krakow, Poland. Very good club scene, cheap and lots to do and see. It's getting more touristy, so go while it's still cheap! A really nice hostel there is the Garden House Hostel. You can book it through Travelpunk's hostel booker. It's cheap and in a great location.
Zakopane ("zahk-o-pahny"), Poland has a beautiful mountain range that's fabulous for hiking. It's becoming more of a shopping/touristy city as well, but apparently the Artist's Cemetary is not to be missed. Artists have designed their old headstones. Slovakia - even cheaper than Poland I heard. Of course Prague is a huge party city. The Czech Republic is really beautiful, so if you get the chance to take the train outside of the big cities and maybe site see in some smaller areas, I'd recommend it. Still cheap. |
I will be in Hungary, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey and Greece. If you are in any of those, let me know. I am 26 year olf male from LA. 5th time to Europe. If you are in th Czech, got to a town called Cesky Kramalov. it is the best!

I recommend going in the spring or summer, the weather right now is terrible atm. I missed going to the mountains because the Moscow Ballet was in town and I got a free ticket :) Hey guys can watch the ballet too! besides the mountains you can see the salt mines. cooler than it sounds, or you can go to Aushwitz, sp? It was the largest Nazi concentration camps in europe. The clubs here are great and you can find beer EVERYWHERE! Berlin is really cool too. More people speak english, or rather better english in Germany than in Poland I find. I had no p roblem getting aroung berlin. I do hate the Idea of pay toilets though. Thank you McDonalds! |
