hmmmm, I have heard of peps doing this before, and its suppose to be a riot, ( as long as you stay out of the storms)!!!!! I had a teacher in High School who had a sailboat and he would hire a couple of trav'las to assist on the boat while he sailed all over Europe and Africa, Basically it was work on the boat, for free transport and lodging, which is fair. Maybe a great experience. Even if sharing the cost was the idea, it would still not be too bad I don't think.
On the flip side: Make sure you meet the anyone you will possibly travling along with, you don't wanna get out on the open sea and find out there are some "daddy" issues with that person or there are no alternitive motives for this offer. There is work to be done on the boat, just so ya know!!! Never front any money, the person that makes the offer should have the funds to get the plan togeather, assisting with costs along the way is very fair though. A couple days in advance ask for a copy of the routing you will be taking, make some copies, leave one with your embassy ( if its a long trip), snail mail a copy to a friend or family member. Have you host give a copy to the Coast Guard or the Harbor master of the port you will be leaving, Check it yourself just before its handed over to ensue it matches the one you have had fo the last few days. Not to be paraniod, but to be on the safe side. sounds like a great experience, never done it, wish I could.....maybe next year!!! Have fun a be careful |
CD, you are wise beyond your years
Cincy, Dude, its all about look'n out for my peps, gotta make sure that informed decisions are made....I would expect da same from all ya'll
True, true......and today Im officially out of the military! Now I can do some real traveling (and no more really short haircuts)
I agree, CD. Cover all of your angles
Cincy, congrats on today being your last day of the military and thanks for joining in the first place to serve our country ;) Cincy´s right. Damn, you know ALL, CDude B) ! |
Noth'n but respect C-LSD, pure props for defending your nation!!!!
Dude, can't you like hitch a ride on some military plane on its way to Europe?? dude that would save hundreds!!!! http://www.foodforthepoor.org/graphi...y_aircraft.jpg There has to be a way for you to swing that action!!! |
Yeah, I think that is standard for military personel to hitch a ride on a military jet. Cousins did this a bit in the Air Force and Navy. Not sure of the procedure and i think they were always cargo planes.
Im in the AF and still cant get a military plane ride (HOP), they are pretty rare now, and plus Im out now  (and thats a great picture CD)
Ah well, that would be a good go if ya could have...thats ok brotha don't feel bad though, cause we all gots to pay sometime!!!
I am glad you like the pic, i actually had to look for just the right one to get my point across, i thiink that pic says " Fly in me, but don't fuc with me" huh,huh....( Canadian DUde wonders why he is analyzing a picture of a plane? ) |
thats a C5 I believe....we always said its the plane thats takes it from the front and back.

Looking at it from a different angle I would say yup, a C5 it is. Used to move much cargo at one time, works very well for humanitarion mission....which is what it was doing it the first pics... Dude that would be sweet to fly to saythe middle of Asia somewhere, and so shizzle, NO STOP OVERS!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOL |
tru dat
wow that med sailing thing sounds like so much fun, and an adventure of a lifetime. grrr, if only i was travelling this summer.....
Yeah, looks like quite a learning experience, the website the guy will give you is www.sailthehighseas.com Its 30 dollars a day, but I dont know if it would be worth the work, and the money, so.......
I think if it for real, it would be worth it, a really untradinional way to travel which makes it real exciting. Even on Contiki Budget travel tour you have to do some work...so i think its ok to do a little
I dont know anything about ships though....how much, and what kind of work does it take when your sailing?
I think you would have to ask the captain of the ship, but i guess things like load supplies, man the sails, navigation maybe, tie lots of knots, cooking, prob some cleaning like swabbing the deck...
I am just going on by what I have seen on TV, I really do not know. |
Crio, you said you cant travel this year.....why not????
I think that I missed something here. $30 a day is what he pays, or what you have to pay him? The other thing is, you better be able to not have one iota of sea-sickness or it´s going to be a long ass journey!
