Hey everyone,
I posted almost this same post a minute ago, but in the wrong place.lol. so here it is again. Just a couple of quik questions I have. Actually I have alot, but only a few for right now.
1) Being a chick, how safe is it for me to travel alone?
2) can a 26 year old stay in youth hostels?
3) I saw this rail pass that is cheaper if two people get one together. Is it worth it? and can you split up and still use your pass? also, can an adult and a student/youth pass be conjoined in that same kinda thing?
I just dont want to pay sooo much on my rail pass, cause I'll be 26 on my 1st day of travel. Which sucks!!!
4) Any really awesome places to sleep? for example i have a bunch of listings for castles, but would like to hear about other cool places.
5) Has anyone taken or is going to take one of the tours offered by Radical Travel? They have the tours in Ireland, Scotland, and Britain. I would like to do all three if its worth it.
6) I also plan to do about a week in Egypt, and was going to get the go bus pass (cause it includes a 2 night cruise on the nile. I now it probably sounds better than it is , but im still gonna have a blast.) Same as the above question. has anyone done it? worth it?
Ok, enough q's for now. Thanks to anybody that can help. Is anyone packing in europe july and august? Take care. and always live life.

Wow, someone better jump on this quick cuz I can't answer most of you questions.
As for being a chick traveling alone - as far as I've heard, some of the girls here have. I've never heard any horror stories. Use your head. Meet nice people and hang out with them if you get lonely. I'm sure you won't have problems meeting people.
No age limitations on hostels as far as I know. Plus, 26 is still very young!
Rail passes - I want more info on the two bookings if anyone gives it!
I'm not doing any tours. Don't really have any desire.
The pass in Egypt sounds cool though. I'd love to take a ride down the Nile!

A few answers....You are perfectly safe traveling alone as long as you are smart. Enough said. You won't have a problem staying in most youth hostels at 26. I'm sure others can answer the rest... Have fun!

1. Several of the girls here have traveled alone with little or no problems. Just be cautious and use common sense and you should be alright. Through most travels you can make friends easily so you will most likely usually have someone else with you. If traveling at night or early morning try to keep at least one other person with you.
2. The upper age limitation I have heard for some hostels is 26. But most you shouldn't have a problem with from the info that I have read. If anyone knows of any in particular that you might have an issue with perhaps that can let you know, but for the most part you should be clear and free.
3. I believe you have to get two youth or two adult passes, but the easiest way would probably be to e-mail or call the company. I have never tried it so I can't say for sure.
4. None in particular, but I have heard that the Airport in A-dam in comfortable. Seriously, haven't heard of any can't miss sleeping spots.
5. Tours all depends on your mode of travel I s'pose. A lot of travelers are up for traveling the unbeaten path and finding little known places so tours usually aren't for them. But they can be good for offering detailed explanations of places and for a decent mode of transportation. I haven't heard of the company, so I can't offer advice there.
6. Don't know that either.

1) As KCL said, totally safe, as long as you're smart.
2) Yup. But before you go, look for published age limits, just in case.
3) I believe 26 is the age limit for youth passes on Eurail, but I'm not entirely sure..
4) Depends where you're going. You can stay on boats (see: Amsterdam, island-hopping in Greece), haunted places...
5) Not I - generally not a fan of organized tours. I've heard both good and bad things about the Haggis/Shamrocker tours, but my preference is to just go to each city independently and then maybe take a smaller regional tour.

Your are totally safe and cool going by yourself, you are going to meet all these amazing people along the way.
Egypt!!!! AWESOME idea once in a life time, I have never been personally, but I have heard great things about it. Think about it, you will be seeing the PYRIMADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please go, I promise you will never regret it..I want to see pictures when you come back
As for organized tours...I am not a fan, but if you want a safe and planned out vaca then go for it, but if you like to wake up and see where the day takes you, then be spontenous and just ask locals what to see... ( a local hottie would be even better)
Places to sleep, castles are a GREAT idea, also think about maybe going to camp sites and camp out underneath the stars... thats always beautiful. I once stayed in a room of the old mansion this lady was renting out in south america. I got free home cooked meals and lived like a princess for a week. Ask around if people are renting out rooms.

Does the railpass include Ireland? I'm planning on getting a 2 month unlimited adult pass (17 countries).
I agree. I have to go to Egypt. It's gonna be amazing!!!
I might even go scuba diving in Dahab. I have so many plans. I think I need a second job, to save for this trip.
