Depending on a lot of factors, I may be going to San Fermin festival two years in row if I can swing it. Its a crazy good time, so if you will be in Europe July7th through the 15th, you should try and attend.

for all of those that haven attended a running of the bulls festival and as yr now one of the experienced few who have attended do you think you can provide some more details such as
location
what goes on at an event like this
whats the best hostel ?
are there any other cultural sites to visit around the area?

although i know some of the answers to my own questions i think it may help some of the less experienced if not HOW ABOUT PUTTING IT IN THE TP NEWSLETTER

thanks

Theres a TP newsletter?

Location: Pamplona, Spain. In the northeast corner of the country. it is usually easiest to come from San Sebastian by bus.

Goings on: Lots of drinking, singing and dancing. Sporadic parades comemmorating various things or nothing at all. The running of the bulls takes place everyday around 8am when six bulls and a few steers are released to chase people up the course to the bullring. They then let younger bulls out to chase the crowd around a little bit before they begin the bullfight.

Best hostel: No idea, but I guess the bank sufficed pretty well for a few people last year. If you plan on staying in a hostel, book well in advance.

Cultural sites: Not to my knowledge.

Jake you crazy kid! You would run again?

If there was anytime I was in Europe at the same time as San Fermine I would definitely make a special trip there. As you said man, factors.

Wow, that's impressive Jake. I cannot see myself ever going again, unless I happened to be fairly nearby and DEFINITELY had a place to stay. I was ready to get the hell out of there after two days. Although I do really regret not running so I should never say never

Yes, there is. Feel free to submit something if you like.

Which I am still hoping to have finished in 8 days.

There is a link to sign up on the main page. Just have to enter your e-mail address and click join. I am still working on getting it to look the way I want it to look and such, while keeping it simple enough for e-mail, which might not quite work too well... but we will see.

I'll almost definitely be there, and very very drunk... Hey, maybe we should go together or something?

We should.

Lauren, hehe, you didnt seem like you were much into it on the 7th. But sleeping outside and drinking a lot can mess with you, I know. I was ready to leave after one night too. A hostel might be the way to go in the future.

Evan, are going to be back in Europe? I know you said you might be coming back to London in another thread.

Yeah, I felt bad and still do that I really wasn't much fun to be around that night and didn't make a great impression for you guys that showed up on the 7th....after staying up all night in the freezing rain the night before, not to mention out of control partying for at least 4-5 nights in San Sebastian before Pamplona, I was running on empty and just needed some SLEEP and a break from alcohol!!! I thought I was invincible for awhile there but realized that was not the case when I hit the wall that night and just wanted a bed to sleep in....

so that is why I seriously had to leave to take advantage of lodging opportunity, well and I also had a major crush on the guy

Hehe, totally understandable. Luckily we missed the rain on the 7th, but it was colder sleeping outside than I had pictured. Thank God for James and his garbage bags.

I think I am going to get one of those ultra light emergency water proof blanket things. I really really hate to be cold, and I really really want to sleep outside some. This post was entirely unnecessary.
