Thumbs down Casa Oro - San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua

I only stayed in this hostel for 1 night, thankfully. It wasn't TERRIBLE, but its location is. It is on a well-travelled road which is known for having a guy drive past at all hours and late into the night blasting music and talking on a megaphone, advertising parties or something. It's so ridiculously loud and even with earplugs or ipod music you can still hear it loud and clear.

The staff is a little rude, they speak a little English which is appreciated but the rudeness needs to go. Their common area is small and the whole place is just not very user-friendly. The area with tables is badly lit and still being constructed, so it's dirty, dark, and you feel like you're a hermit sitting in the back of the hostel. They do have a TV, but only like 1 couch in front of it. The beds are alright, you have to ask for sheets and a pillow or you won't get either.

The bathrooms are somewhat clean but badly lit.

I would not stay here again, mainly because of the staff and poor layout of the hostel. For $8 a night you can get way better.

I stayed at Casa Oro too..It was alright...Nothing bad, nothing good. I met some good ppl there so thats why I probably had an alright time. And the staff helped me out a bit there when I got mugged. I do like that they have free internet for guests. But your right they do need more hang out areas for guest usage.
