I know there are a lot of Canadians here on the boards so Im wondering...
Im planning a shit load of travel next year and a few co-workers and I would like to drive up to Vancouver, now I know I wont have much time next year so a few co-workers and I are going to take a drive up there before my girlfriend gets here. We're thinking maybe the first week of December.
Can someone tell me exactly how loose the law is as far as smoking pot? We are looking at getting away to relax and try some of Vancouvers finest, any tips would be appreciated. Also, how are the prices as far as booze?

Yeah right TUI you just want to come up to see ME!
BC BUD that's all the questions I ever get Yup laws are veeeerrrrry relaxed here. You see people smoking it everywhere. Heck we even have a marijuana political party. But i don't smoke it. So I don't have any connections so leave me alone! :D People will come up to you sometimes and ask if ya wanna buy some. In gastown like adam mentioned we have a few marijauna 'cafes'. Occasionally they're shut down by the police, just so the police will look good. But they're pretty much left alone. There is also the cannabis cafe. But your asking the wrong girl on pot info, seriously I know nothing. I see it, I smell it, some of my friends do it...that's all I know sorry. But even if you get caught with it. they probably won't even fine you. The governement is trying to get it legalized in canada.
as for alchohal prices. It ranges so much it's not funny. Pitchers of beer anywhere from 9 bux to 16 bux depending on what type of beer. Highballs usually 5 bux. doubles $8.50. coronas 4.50-5 bux. But these are in cad. prices and will be cheaper for you. and these are prices quoted on a normal friday/saturday night. obviously a lot of places have drink specials. Check out 'The Cambie" It's an institution here and home to the cheapest beer in van ( i believe)

All the same the Okanagan, pretty much. Cops don't care too much for who smokes the weed just whos growing it (recently busted a guy with a basement full of it, and twenty rifles along his wall...he lived two roads up from me, right beside a daycare ). The high school is a local joke with the 'drug free zone' signs everywhere. As for alcohol, well right now it's on the upscale.

In Québec, smoking pot is illegal but if you get caught with some, it's not a big deal, as long as it's not for selling but just for your personnal consommation... In clubs, a beer will usually cost you 4,75CAN$ but there are specials every nights...
We have a micro-brewery (Unibroue) that makes excellent beer...I am addicted to it...If you come here, you need to taste them...Sorry for that huge pic! :D

Winter around the corner? Well here it's -8 and we got ourselves a couple inches of snow. I say it's winter when it's cold, not some renound date on the calendar.
And nah, we ain't dangerous...for sure. Hey wong did you have some nasty experience with some disgruntled Canadian?

You know, I have to agree with Moc and Columbia. Canadians are not dangerous. Canadians are like a little furry bunny rabbit. All cute and cuddly. They couldn't hurt a fly. Although, I think being as nice and passive as they are, they should be trying to teach us rowdy americans some manners. Although the legal weed, topless women, and prostitution (all in windsor, ON I don't know about anywhere is canada) are not helping us Americans at all.
You know I just love picking on my wonderful northerly neighbors. :D
So do you guys have like a National Curling Leage or anything up there? I used to watch that on CBC sometimes with my dad, we get into that a little bit. Once you get over the strangeness of it all, it can be pretty instense. I remember... ahhh I'll just shut up now before I get picked on. It's originally a Scottish sport I hear.
Reason why I should have a bedtime.

For smoking a little of da green dream, BC would be your better bet, the cops in Toronto have started to arrest people again for carrying even small amounts of pot. The goverment overturned a ruling that it was only a fineable offence...now it is a criminal charge again. FYI
As for drinks, In the regular pubs and bars about 4.50 a pint, about 5$ for a spirit and anywhere from 6 - 10$ for a spiffy mixed drink. If you go to the higher end establishments and beer can cost 10$...needless to say, i do not go to those places much!!!
Toronto is a great party town, we have more clubs than anywhere I know, and there is a pub on almost every corner in the city. On Thurs Fri and Sat nights they are always rammed with party goers and id you meet the right peps, you can hook up with an after hours party...NO drinks are seved after 2am though, which sux, but ya gotta obey da law man!!

Hahahahaha! Sijuki, thats precious! It's even hard to find a Canadian who likes curling..most of us think it that retarded thing we kick ass at but is more along the lines of horseshoeing than hockey. But it's really really hard and I am absolutly terrible at it. But I can sweep! Meh who can't. Na it's tricky like...shuffleboard! heheheh. okay I'll stop.
Ohho, wong! Cruel! Damn Canada needs some culture (your goddamn american tv keeps sucking it away)...lets see I think I own a parka...nah we got beer, there's culture!

Oh yes, shuffleboard... that's a Florida sport for senior citizens. I used to play that when I was a kid, I kicked ass. I don't know if that is something to brag about though.
So Columbia, you've played curling then... that's kinda cool. Do they have like high school curling teams? Tell me more about this curling.
Now wait a minute missy, what culture do us Americans keep sucking from you Canadiens? Cause here in the US, we don't have culture. Ok, the only culture here is what other people brought from their countries. I have never had Canadien beer, honest, sad I know. I take that back, I did have a Labatt's once. Do you guys have any good dark beers? Even though there are only 6 Canadien teams in the NHL, I still think of Hockey as being Canadien. So I guess beer and hockey, and curling are your culture.

Aww thank you I feel better. Yes, beer, hockey (even though we keep LOOSING, oi), and curling...and lacross! Wow we all forget lacross. Damn I loved lacross when I was in gr.10 what the hell!? rats. Yep I've curled and like I said I was down right terrible. I played it in gr.7. They have clubs for curling in high school, but not teams. At least here anyway...just cause there's not enough of it I think. You're right Canadian culture is Britain and Scotland and Ireland and all thems' culture.
I don't drink beer so I couldn't tell you whats good or whats bad but I asked around and everyone was like "Dark beer?, Dark beer?" So yah.

I can't believe you are actually telling me about curling, most people would probably just tell me to shut up. :P In all honesty, Texas Hold-em Poker, that is some intense gaming. I've stayed up til 5 in the morn watching that sitting on the edge of my seat. I won't be ashamed by that. I love that game. It's big in Texas, and well is what they play for the World Series of Poker.
You should feel better, at least curling is shown on TV, I have never seen a shuffleboard tournament on TV. Lacrosse, is awesome, never played but think it is cool as hell to watch. Detroit used to have a Lacrosse team, but they lost too much money, even with 2 championships. Total bummer.
I used to not drink beer, but for some reason I could drink Guiness, and since then I have progressed to more beers. So does that mean you don't have any dark beers?

Woah very confused...they play curling at Poker matches? What? And TEXAS likes curling!? I'd never of thought...Wisconsin, maybe.
Yah I don't think they have shuffleboard on TV. They do have darts though. Painful that one, to watch anyway. If you ever get a chance to play lacrosse don't pass it up its fun as hell, I wish I still played .
We must have dark beer..here lemmie look it up (how pathetic)...Canadian dark ale. Creative title don't you think? Thats all I could find but I didn't look too hard.
