Well I left last Friday on an unplanned romantic weekend with my wife for our 2nd anniversary. I got home from work in a rented minivan ( My car would not make it 1/2 way) and told her I wwas wisking her away for the weekend, with out surprise she ageed to join me...we packed and took off with her still not knowing where we were going. I called the hotel at our main destination from my cell phone and THANK GOD they still had rooms available for the weekend. We headed East out of Ontario and into the province of Quebec. She kinda got the idea of where we were goiong at this point, but not the whole stroy at this point. 5 hours it took to get to Montreal and I did not make a reservation so it was a terrible anti-romantic Econo Lodge that we stayed in...man what a dump..but it had a bed and this was just a stop over to out end destination. We enojyed the Montreal night life, a nice dinner and wine sitting at the second story window of a fancy Italian resturant.
Old Montreal is a great place, I lovd it the fist time I was there, and even more this time.
So on Sat morning, we left our terrible hotel after gettng almost no sleep because of the fir hall next door being especially busy that night. On the road again, my wife still did not know where we were off to, all she knew was they did not speak English, and it was further east.
She kinda caught wind where she started seeing signs for Quebec City, but I did not let on, after that poor excuss for a hotel we stayed in the night before, I think she was afraid to ask where we were going!
About 40 min from Quebec City I told her our destination, and she was sooo excited, but where we were going was only half the surprise.
As we arrived into the walled city ,and made our way around the windy roads passing some of most amazing architecture that I have ever seen...This city is only 8 hours from my house, and yet I have never been...man what chump I am!
And now for the finally of my aniversary gift to my wife...2 night at the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac....
All I can say is I think I really made her happy with this gift...the tears of joy kinda gave it away!
Neither of us have never been treated so well in our lifes..It was like being royalty, if even just for a few days. OUr bags brought to our room, a turn down service at night, and the staff had left us a box of cholate as an anniversary gift! MAn, so this is how rich folk live!
Quebec City is now one of my favorite cities I have ever been, the life, the food, the architechture, EVRYTHING about this city was class "A", rumors of descrimation if you do not speak French..completly FALSE! everyone we met was fantastic!
Please if you are looking to impress someone you love, this is the place to go...
Moc, I am so sorry I did not get to hook up with you when I was there, but I must say your one lucky lady to be in such a place!!!
