I plan a mini-backpacking excursion to Halifax Nova Scotia and St.John's Newfoundland in late fall or early winter. My question is, what is the most economical way of getting there Halifax to St.John's??? Thanks everyone


oh and a sidenote, i just arrived back from 3 weeks in Western Europe. What a blast it was! So many great memories, i cannot wait to return to Europe

If you want to go to the west coast, catch the ferry in North Sydney then bus to Corner Brook, if you want to come east, flying is the most economical way to get to newfoundland. There's no Argentia ferry in the fall/winter so you'd be looking at crossing at Port aux Basque then getting a bus or driving 12+ hrs to St. John's. Winter is too unreliable to risk it, imo.

Halifax is a pretty fun town.
